SABRINA CHARRAN
In July 2015, I volunteered to work with forteen girls at the St. Jude's Home for Girls in Belmont, Trinidad over a two week period. Since I'm not allowed to show their faces, I've presented the image above as my introduction to these girls in a collage I've titled "Her Eyes" which depicts the girls' faces with their eyes interchanged. I found it suitable as a general group portrait, since most of our sessions were mainly spent looking at the ways in which they looked at each other though engaging in painting activities that focused on self evaluation.

HEART THERAPY
HEART THERAPY was a 3 part session which required the following materials: Paper, red paint, palettes, water, scissors, glue
Part 1: Using red paint, the students were asked to, as honestly and uninhibited as possible, to write the words, said to them directly by someone they know whom they love/d and trust/ed, that hurt them the most.
Part 2: Students were asked to rip/cut/tear/shred the messages they wrote so that, by the end of the process, the words would be unrecognizable and illegible.
Part 3: The students were then put into pairs where they grouped all their paper bits and shreds. They were then asked to create a collage in the shape of a heart using glue and all the pieces of paper they collected.
